Today we took a drive down to Temple Texas to celebrate the life of Peggy Diaz. We left the house at 6:30am this morning and drove three hours to Temple. If anyone has ever been there you would know that this is a small town with a big heart! The Church Ceremony started at 10:00 am and it was perfect. We prayed, we sang, we cried and we listened to the paster give an amazing sermon about our beloved Peggy. Once the ceremony was complete the family along with many other people who had come to know and love Peggy traveled down to the cemetery which would be Peggy's final resting place. Her body will rest forever next to her parents in a small but beautiful cemetery. I wanted to share something I think is amazing that happened today as we drove in procession to the cemetery. As we were driving with our lights on down a long highway feeling sadness I noticed that people were pulling over to the side of the road even though we were not in need of more room. It was almost as if they were showing a sign of sorrow and respect for everyone in the procession and mainly Peggy. I have seen this before and it always makes me feel good to see perfect strangers acknowledging the loss of a love one but this time was extremely special. As we were driving I was watching all of the people pulling over to the side of the road and I happened to notice one man in particular. He was driving a pick up truck and he seemed to be in his mid fifties. This man of which we have never met nor does he know what has happened to our precious Peggy took the time to pull over and take his hat off and place it on his heart. In my mind it was almost as if he was saluting her and us as we drove by in the same way you would if it was a solider who lost their life in the war. He was paying respect to people he never met and did it with it in a way that I will remember forever. Thank you!
Peggy Diaz was carried by her son and other family members to her final resting place today and we are deeply saddened. She was placed in the ground next to her parents and she will live with the lord in heaven for the rest of her days! I have a funny feeling that she is up there talking up a storm to every angel that comes her way and she is playing catch up with her lost friends and family members. Peggy Diaz will always have a place in my heart and she will always be loved because she was a one and only! God Bless you and may you live forever in the hearts and minds of everyone!
