I wanted to thank all of you for your sympathy and prayers during this difficult time of mourning. It has been a tough two months and we are still praying for a better new year. Virginia was my mother in law and I miss her dearly. We had our moments but I think we had that mother daughter relationship that all of you mothers know about! Life is strange now without her hear and I will miss so many things about her. She touched my heart and I will never forget her. Thank you again and we hope you have a great Christmas and a happy New Year!!!

Below is the Eulogy I wrote for her service Friday. Please read it and remember a wonderfule and loving women.

R.I.P.

Virginia Ann, Gin, Gi Gi and Baby Sister was what she was known as. Eccentric, unpredictable, hilarious, intelligent, loving and inventive is what she will be remembered as. Virginia was a mother of three boys: Chance, Kenny and Beau and she loved them whole heartedly. She would talk endlessly about them and their lives and loved reminiscing about past years of their youth. Her three boys are the fathers 7 precious children and to her they were not only her grandchildren, they were her angels. If someone was to ask me what will you remember most about Gin I would say “Virginia loved. She loved her children, grandchildren, mothers, fathers, sisters, brother and many, many friends and I know she will continue to do so.
Virginia was born in Louisiana and lived there the majority of her 51 years. When She moved to Texas she made a lot friends and worked at a few flower shops but everyone knew her heart was still in Louisiana. She decided to move back a couple of years ago and it was like she had never left. She feel right back into the life she lived before and cherished every minute of it. Gin lived a couple of miles from all of her family and visited them daily with and without invitation. When she stopped by your house you could always count on a funny and outrageous story because something was always happening in her life.
Virginia was also a excellent florist. I remember every Christmas when she would work almost around the clock decorating Christmas trees and million dollar homes, she would literally crawl into the house because of exhaustion and plop down on the couch and take a huge sigh. She was tired but it didn’t matter because she loved to do flowers. She enjoyed it so much that she would suffer through a stuffy nose, watery eyes and itchy skin just to make beautiful arrangements. She had the pleasure of doing flowers for family members and friends and also was given the honorable task of designing the flowers for Kenny, her middle child's" wedding. To say the least she was a creative florist with a unforgettable talent for design.
Besides being a wonderful florist she was an accomplished cook. She loved to make meals for anyone who was hungry and always had the most creative recipes. I remember last time she was in Texas taking about how she needed to write down all of her recipes and that we should make a cook book out of them. She loved that idea and we all new that she could sell millions. She made things like baked spaghetti, crawfish etoufe and gumbo. She would always ask her sons "how is it baby" and there reply was silence because they were to busy enjoying the meal she had prepared to answer. One time some years ago she made crawfish etoufe and she keep asking all of us “do you think it is runny, I think it is a little runny, should I remake it?” but it of course it wasn’t. Ever since then it has been a running joke where ever time she asked how her meal was no matter what it was we would say "its a little runny!"
Gi Gi is loved by many and will always be. God has taken another angel to help in heaven and I know she is watching over us. I know that she is up there with Jesus and God and she is asking "you hungry, can I make you something to eat?" She is up there cooking, decorating, doing flowers and of course arguing and cutting up with her dad V.R. "Ray" Thornton.
She has been given her eternal wings and will forever be in hearts and souls of all who were blessed to have known her all and all who were blessed to be loved by her.

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me:
~~~
I wish you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say
~~~
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too:
~~~
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand.
~~~
And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.
~~~
But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,
~~~
He said, "This is eternity.
And all I've promised you.
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew."
~~~
"I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.
~~~
"So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

I am at a lost for words today. Chance received the most crushing call today from his Granny Lee that no person ever wants to receive. At about 8:30 this morning Chance was told that his mother Virginia "Gi Gi" Thornton had passed away. Virginia was 51 and lived in the town of Napoleonville, Louisiana. She was a proud mother of three, grandmother of 7 and a loving baby sister. Words can not express how saddened we are by this news and we ask that you please pray for Gi-Gi and for the families and friends who were blessed to have known her.
Virginia Ann Thornton was born in Louisiana and lived there the majority of her 51 years. She moved with Kenneth to Texas when the boys were younger but found that there was no place like home. She decided to move back home a couple of years ago and it was like she never left. She feel right back into the life she lived before and loved every minute of it. She lived a couple of miles from all of her family and visited them daily. She began to work at inn in Napoleonville which was owned by one of her dear friends. Virginia was also a excellent florist and even though she was allergic to some of the flowers she worked with she never stopped making beautiful arrangements because that was her God given talent. She helped me from time to time with my yard and was given the honorable task of doing the flowers for Kenny, her middle child's" wedding. To say she had a green thumb would be an understatement. Besides being a wonderful florist she was an incredible cook. She loved to make meals for anyone who was hungry and always had the most creative recipes. I remember last time she was in Texas taking about how she needed to write down all of her recipes and that we should make a cook book out of them. She loved that idea and we all new that she could sell millions. She made things like baked spaghetti and crawfish etoufe. She would always ask her sons "how is it baby" and there reply was silence because they were to busy enjoying the meal she had prepared to answer. I remember one time some years ago she made crawfish etoufe and she asked how is it and Kenny said jokingly "it was a little runny." Needless to say she was so worried that it was runny that she offered to remake it. Ever since then it has been a running joke where ever time she asked how her meal was we said "its a little runny!"
Virginia is loved by many and will always be. God has taken another angel to help in heaven and I know she is watching over us. I know that she is up there with Jesus and God and she is asking "you hungry, can I make you something to eat?" She is up there cooking, decorating, doing flowers and of course riding around in helicopters with her dad V. Ray Thornton.
I ask that you please pray for my husband and his brothers as they mourn the death of their mother and pray for her brother, sister, two mother's, family and friends as they mourn as well. Virginia Ann Thornton also known as Gin and Gi-Gi has been given her eternal wings and will forever be in hearts and souls of all who were blessed to have known her.

Words can not express how deeply saddened we are this December weekend. A man known to us and many as "Paw Ray" went to be with Jesus yesterday, December 5Th at 9:23 am. He was a extremely caring and loving Father, husband, grandfather and son. Verlie Ray was a Korean War Vet and owned a crop dusting company in Louisiana called Cane Air. He loved to hunt, he loved to cook but really his greatest love was flying. I was speaking to Gin, Ray's baby girl, and I said I know he is up there watching us and she said no... he is up there flying around with all of his friends once lost and I would not doubt it! Chance is different since this has happened and I know he will never be the same. Chance and Ray were like two peas in a pod. They would hunt together, Ray would take Chance flying and they were always together. Ray would call Chance C.W. (Chance Whitney) and Chance would call him Paw. I wish that I could say more but at this point just know that he was amazing. He is loved and deeply missed for ever. We love you Paw Ray, may you rest in peace and fly forever!
